Settings
Within Settings you control what to simulate. First, thats the time horizon to be used. And secondly, the environment in which you want your model to be.
Simulation Settings
Before you start a simulation, you should consider how long and how detailed you want the results to be.
Time Step
With Time Step you specify the step size for the solver to output results. Although our principia MBS engine (solver core) performs an automatic time step, this is the maximum step size at which results are calculated.
Consider this quantity in convergence analysis in order to maximize result quality. Especially when you modelled non-linear impact events (e.g. with Bump Stop Force), this factor is of great importance.
Duration
The Duration specifies the length of the simulation horizon. This length is limited so that you can create a total of 3000 time steps.
Use Body to Body Contact
In future this option will allow to active contact between bodies of your principia MBS model. If you are in need of this feature, reach out to us via email.
Gravity Settings
The environment of a multibody model is defined mainly by the gravitational field, which in most cases correlates with the gravitational field of the Earth. Use the three textboxes to input all three components of the gravitational field you want to use for your model. Provide a value in the unit you selected for Linear acceleration. Per default we filled the form with the Earth gravitational field pointing in the negative Z-direction.
